Amy Jamieson is a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in treating children and adolescents for anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, social phobia, PTSD, and school refusal related to anxiety. She also works with children and their parents to address behavioral problems, ADHD, social skills, grief and depression. She has experience and a particular interest in working with teenage girls and college-age women. As part of her practice with children and teenagers, she often helps parents with strategies to deal with supporting their children in overcoming such problems.
She also sees adults, with a focus on treating anxiety disorders, including PTSD. In addition, she counsels adults for depression, grief and loss, self-esteem issues and relationship issues.
Amy facilitates group therapy addressing social skills for children and parenting skills, as well as DBT groups for adolescents and their families.
For the last eight years, Amy has worked in a private practice setting. She previously worked in government and non-profit agencies serving at-risk children and their families.
A Licensed Professional Counselor, Amy earned her masters in counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. She received her undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill.
